Mobility

Across the developing world having a walking disability often causes complete social isolation. Losing the use of your legs often means the only way to get around is to crawl on the ground, effectively excluding someone from participating in their community life caused by the lack of mobility and the shame that comes with that. Gabon, like most African countries, is a place without laws mandating universal access for people in wheelchairs, nor programs to provide wheelchairs to those who need them. E4 Project partners with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Gabon to provide people who can’t walk with life-changing mobility, while also creating an opportunity for the church in Gabon to demonstrate mercy to suffering people in the name of Jesus.

Through partnerships that started with Free Wheelchair Mission and moved to Mobility Worldwide, we have provided over 900 wheelchairs and hand-powered carts to the needy in Gabon. Both organizations provide containers of wheelchairs and carts at no cost to us and only have to cover import taxes into Gabon and transport to get them to villages around the country where they are needed most. We continue to work with Mobility Worldwide to provide more mobility carts as our partners are ready to accept and distribute them.

AREAS OF WORK

What We Do

Public Health

At E4 Project, public health encompasses not only the physical well-being of individuals but also the spiritual, social, and emotional aspects of an individual’s health. In the countries where we serve, examples of various public health initiatives include providing access to clean water, malnutrition prevention, and medical care.

Community Development

Our development approach to poverty alleviation seeks to address important community issues through a Biblical, holistic, and participatory process. This process involves working closely with community members to identify their strengths and assets, as well as the challenges they face, and to develop solutions tailored to their specific needs and contexts.

Training

We believe one of the best ways to help communities with poverty alleviation is through training and offering scholarships. We do this through the training of trainers, as we have done through CHE Training in both Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, through educational scholarships, and sewing training for widows and needy women.
